Bernard Bernie Bobbitt 91
Of Valdosta passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017 at South Georgia Medical Center after lengthy illness. He was born in Washington, IN on October 15, 1925 to the late Henry and Cecil (Miley) Bobbitt. He was Baptist by faith. He served in the United States Army during World War II and received the Bronze Star. He was a heavy weapons section leader in 81 MM mortar unit in the European Theater of Operations under combat conditions. He enjoyed many sports but most importantly, he enjoyed golf and IU Basketball. Mr. Bobbitt retired after over 36 years as an Art Teacher. He worked with various areas in Indiana including: West Lafayette School System, La Porte, Indiana, Edinburg, Indiana, and North Vernon, Indiana.
Survivors Include: Wife of 60 years, Saundra Bobbitt of Valdosta; Daughter & Son-in-law, Kellie & Lenny Wiggins; Hahira; 2 Grandchildren: Brooke Wiggins and Britney Wiggins.
A memorial services will be held at 5:00 PM Monday, May 22, 2017 in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Wounded Warrior Project.
