Mrs. Bonnie Sue Spencer, 75 of Barney passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at her residence. Mrs. Spencer was born August 25, 1942 to the late Joe Crowder McClure and Dorothy Collier McClure. She was a college professor for many years before retiring and was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Moultrie. Mrs. Spencer was the Queen of the Red Bells of Barney Chapter of the Red Hat Society.
Survivors include her husband, Dwight Spencer of Barney; daughters, Carla Spencer of Barney, and Karen (Sol) Summerlin of Barney; grandchildren, Luke Kelly, Jacob Kelly, John Mark Kelly, Isabella Summerlin, and Solomon Summerlin; brother, James (Rene) McClure of Shaw, MS; several nieces & nephews. Mrs. Spencer was preceded in death by her sister, JoAnn Walton, and brother in law, John Walton.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Okapilco Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Icard, and Mr. John Mark Kelly officiating. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the church. A funeral service will follow in Cleveland, Mississippi at a later date.
