Mrs. Carole Lee Spells Smith, 84, of Adel, passed away Thursday December 12, 2017 at Berrien Nursing Center in Nashville. She was born on April 17, 1933 in Phoenix, Arizona to Bill Barbour and Norma Anderson. She lived most of her life in Adel where she was a member of Westside Baptist Church and was a mother and homemaker for her family.
She is survived by two sons, Bryan Lee Spells of Leesburg and Wayne Smith of Adel; six daughters and five sons-in-law: Mary Louise and Jeff Miller of Barwick, Debbie Adams of Adel, Sabrina and Dan Adams of Valdosta, Marie and Tommy White of Hahira, Billy Carole and Brad Caldwell of Adel, and Casey Lee and Marty Stafford of Valdosta; 25 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, John A. Spells, Sr. and Billy Lee Smith; her son, John A. Spells, Jr.; and a sister, Barbara Gerin.
The funeral service will take place Saturday December 16, 2017 at 3 PM in the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home South (1804 S. Hutchinson Ave.) in Adel with Rev. Johnny Hendley officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn City Cemetery in Adel. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 until 3 PM at the funeral home.
