Clarence Douglas's Story
Clarence Douglas Morgan, 71, of Valdosta died on Saturday, January 06, 2018 at South Georgia Medical Center following a sudden illness. He was born on September 30, 1946 in Valdosta to the late Mitchell Morgan and Louise Peace Morgan Marcantel, and has been a lifetime resident of this area. He was retired from law enforcement with over 28 years of service with the Lowndes County Sheriffs Office where he was the Lieutenant over the road patrol. Mr. Morgan was also a veteran of the United States Army. He loved to hunt and fish, and loved to camp at Keaton Beach. He was a member of the Valdosta Yacht Club and was a Mason. Mr. Morgan enjoyed eating with two special friends, Kim Pearlman and Don Sirmans, and loved spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, LaVerne Morgan of Valdosta; a daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Charlie Harris, and a son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Cindy Morgan all of Valdosta; four grandchildren, Mallory Winter and her husband Ben Winter, Morgan Harris and her fiance, Trey Sears, Travis Morgan and Madison Morgan; a great-grandson, Tucker Sears; his brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Becky Marcantel of Valdosta and a sister and brother-in-law, Margie and J.B. Keene of Fitzgerald; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bobby and Carolyn Eason, and Sonny and Elaine Eason; three sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Carolyn and Ronnie Newham, Janice and Donald Arnold, and Judy and V.J. Williams. He was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Williams.
Services for Clarence Douglas Morgan will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Gay officiating.
