Dr. William's Story

Dr. William Albert Threlkeld, Jr., 84, died January 9th, 2018, at the Fellowship Home after an extended illness. Dr. Threlkeld leaves his wife, Constance V. Threlkeld; sons David Threlkeld (Catherine) of Omaha, Nebraska, and Bennett Threlkeld (Judy) of Valdosta; cherished friend Wilfred Head (Denise) of Valdosta; grandchildren Connor Threlkeld (Stephanie) of Burnettown, South Carolina, Jarrett Threlkeld (Kristy) of Austin, Texas, Jennifer Threlkeld of Dallas, Texas, Lindsey Threlkeld Faurie (David) of Savannah, Georgia, Drew Threlkeld of Cartersville, Georgia, and Cullen Threlkeld of Athens, Georgia; great-grandson Elliott and an extended loving family. He is preceded in death by his parents, William Albert Threlkeld and Neva Caraway Threlkeld, and his brother, Col. Donald H. Threlkeld.
Dr. Threlkeld was born in Albany, Georgia, graduating from Albany High School before proceeding to graduate from The Military College of Georgia in Dahlonega, Georgia, and the Medical College of Georgia, in Augusta, Georgia. Subsequently he served in the United States Army, attaining the rank of Captain, before returning to civilian life as a general practitioner of medicine in Thompson, Georgia. He returned to the Medical College for residency programs in Psychiatry and Neurology, followed by the practice of both specialties. Dr. Threlkeld was Board certified in both Psychiatry and Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and subsequently received the honor of becoming a Fellow of Psychiatry and Neurology. Moving his practice to Valdosta in 1971, he remained a resident of this community the remainder of his life.
While always a doctor, Bill Threlkeld was foremost a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and family man. He was a steadfast believer in the education and well-being of all the members of his family, providing a patient ear and sound advice to those who sought his council.
Dr. Threlkeld's family appreciates the care given them by the Fellowship Home and Halcyon Hospice.
Visitation will be held at Carson McLane Funeral Home in Valdosta from 10:00-11:00AM on Saturday the 13th of January, 2018, followed immediately by a service at the Carson McLane Funeral Home Chapel.
