Eula's Story

Mother Eula Lee Watkins was born December 22, 1917 in Lumber City, Georgia. to the late Jessie Watkins and Elizabeth Moreland. Mother Eula attended school in Lumber City and later moved to Hazelhurst, Georgia, where she completed her education at Piney Grove Baptist Church. In 1975 Mother Eula attended Valdosta Technical School and became a certified Nurse Aide and worked at South Georgia Medical Center as a private duty sitter for the elderly. Mother Eula worked until the age of 92.

In 1932 Mother Eula met and married Mr. Jimmy Lee Arnold and to this union eight children were born. In 1953 they moved to Valdosta, Georgia, where she joined St. James Missionary Baptist Church. Mother Arnold was a faithful member who served as President of the Senior Choir for 45 years. She was also the Mission Secretary for 30+ years and later served as the Mission President. Mother Arnold was the Deaconess Secretary for 30+ years and also a Sunday school teacher.

God welcomed Mother Arnold home on Monday, January 1, 2018 at her residence. She is preceded in death by her husband, father, mother, five children, and three grandchildren.

She is survived by three loving and caring daughters: Wilhelmena Moore, Berthina (Hercules) Arnold, Eula Jean Arnold; Grandchildren: Andy (Janice) Arnold, Edith, Edgar, Vincent, Brenda, Anthony Moore, Carl, Johnny (Robin), Kelvin, Hercules Jr. (Debra), Keith (Kara), Brian (LaTonya), Gloria, Kevin Major, Anthony (Felicia), Beverly, Sharon (Larry), Jimmy (Yant), Tonya, Timothy (Hedie), Eric, Daryl; 48 Great Grandchildren; 28 Great-great Grandchildren; Adopted-daughter: Brenda Johnson; Special Son: Dr. William C. Morgan and Sister Morgan; along with loving and caring nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends, and godchildren because she was a mother to many. Special Thanks to the Hospice of South Georgia and their staff, St. James Missionary Baptist Church, Morningstar Baptist Church, and Greater Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor Edward Bland, Ocala, Florida.

Home Going Service, Sunday at 2:00 P.M. at the St. James Missionary Baptist Church. Interment, Sunset Hill Cemetery. Final rites were entrusted to Harrington Funeral Home Inc.
