Futch Rupert Yarbrough, 93, of Lakeland died Friday March 9, 2018 at Lakeland Villas.
He was born June 29, 1924 in Bosque County Texas to the late James David "Jim" Yarbrough and the late Lula Texas Futch. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II, a retired farmer and a member of the First Baptist Church of Lakeland where he served as a Senior Deacon. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 49 1/2 years: Vera Mae Odom Yarbrough; great grandchild: Keisha Warren; 4 brothers: Ray Norris Yarbrough, William Thomas Yarbrough, David Carl Yarbrough and James Paul Yarbrough. He was a righteous man who loved God while serving his church and community with a humble heart.
He is survived by his wife: Mary Nell Watson Yarbrough of Lakeland; 5 daughters: Carolyn (J.W.) Herren of Nashville, Sandra (B.W., Jr.) Warren of Baxley, Wanda (Richard) McDaniel of Woodstock, Marilyn (Gene) Sellars of Lakeland and Deborah (David) Young of Austin, TX; 3 step daughters: Wanda Royals of Lakeland, Sandra Browning of Lakeland and Charlotte (Lee) Kirbo of Camilla; sister: Mary Elizabeth Yarbrough Register of Valdosta; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday March 12, 2018 at 2 PM at the First Baptist Church of Lakeland with the Rev. Bill Watson, Rev. Chris Kuenzle and Rev. Tommy Bussey officiating. Interment will follow in Poplar Springs Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday 6-8 PM.
