To ensure the needs of her family was met, she worked willingly with her hands at Levi Strauss Company where she later retired.

Helen was fondly called, Sunshine because of her beautiful smile. She created an inviting atmosphere of warmth and love for her family, friends, neighbors, and even strangers. Her house was the neighborhood house. Her house was filled with love and much laughter. Helen had quite a sense of humor. In her presence was fullness of joy. She possessed a gentle and loving spirit. Helen had a inner beauty that only comes from Christ

Recognizing the importance of having God in her life, Helen was a long-time member of St. Paul AME Church. She served God with all of her heart, mind, and soul.
