Huris "Bubba" Houston

1942 - 2018

Huris Bubba Houston Huris (Bubba) Houston, 76 of Naylor, GA, departed this walk of life on Friday, November 2, 2018 at his residence. He was born on July 21, 1942 to the late Ruby Lee (Roberts) Houston and the late Willie Houston in Lanier County, GA. On December 28, 1968, he was united in holy matrimony to the late Betty Ruth Houston. At an early age, he dedicated his life to Christ and joined New Hopewell Baptist Church under the leadership of the late, great Reverend M.J. Hammond.
Bubba received his education in the Lanier County School system. With a limited educational background, he went on to gain knowledge of carpentry and construction; landing him employment with many companies prior to him becoming an independent contractor with Patten Seed Company. While exercising his passion in carpentry, he completed the construction of numerous projects including home construction and improvements as well as concrete laying. He was also well known for his favorite hobbies, hunting and fishing.
He leaves to cherish his memories five devoted children: Cheryl Williams-McKinnon (Timothy) of Jacksonville, FL; Antoinette Berrian of Valdosta, GA; Cynthia Houston-Anderson (Alfred Honore) of Valdosta, GA; Alejandro Houston (Claudia) of Bartlesville, OK; Tavares Houston of Naylor, GA. His three sisters: Minnie Lee Vaughn of Thousand Oaks, CA; Ernestine Carter (Charlie) of Naylor, GA; Deborah Carter (Earnest) of Valdosta, GA. Three brothers: Bishop Cessor Houston (Retta) of Naylor, GA; Willie E. Houston (JoAnn) of Crawfordville, FL; Vinson Houston (Elaine) of Valdosta, GA. Two brothers-in-law: Samuel L. Walker of Valdosta, GA; and John L. Walker of Lakeland, GA. Sister-in-law: Helen Carter of Valdosta, GA; His two aunts: Vernice Houston of St. Petersburg, FL; Allene Hardwick (Rev. Clark) of Detroit, MI; one uncle Sam Roberts (Debra) of Huntsville, AL. Twelve grandchildren: Letitia Williams, Romunia Edwards (Marcus), Samantha Holmes, Nikita Berrian, Travis Williams (Danielle), Sharvarye Anderson, Netria Mckinnon, Traveon Anderson, Andreas Anderson, Aethan Houston, Hannah Houston, Jonathan Houston and eleven great-grandchildren. Special friend: Rick Lamb and a host of special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends that were near and dear to his heart. Also special thanks to Hospice of South Georgia.
Public Viewing will be on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the Harrington Funeral Home in Lakeland, Georgia 10 A.M.-8 P.M. Funeral services will be Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at Southside Baptist Church in Lakeland, GA. Pastor Austin Deloach, Pastor Charles E. Vinson, Sr., Officiating. Burial will follow in Charles Knight Cemetery, Lakeland, GA.
