John L. Pat Tomlinson, Jr., and Carolyn Jane (Sirmans) Tomlinson John L. "Pat" Tomlinson, Jr., 81, and Carolyn "Jane" (Sirmans) Tomlinson, 80, of Moultrie, passed away in their home on Thursday, March 7, 2019.
We will honor them and celebrate their lives at a Memorial Service to be held Thursday, March 14th at 11a.m. in the sanctuary of Trinity Baptist Church with Reverend Matt Marston officiating.
Born February 8, 1938, in Berrien County, Georgia, Pat was the son of the late John L. Tomlinson Sr. and Mary Bell (Hanks) Tomlinson of Valdosta. He served in the United States Air Force Security Service and owned several businesses in South Georgia. He was preceded by his father and mother, John L. Tomlinson Sr and Mary Bell (Hanks) Tomlinson from Valdosta, GA, son Paul Allen Tomlinson of Panama City, Fl, and grandson Mathew Corey Tomlinson of Mobile, AL.
Carolyn Jane Sirmans was born in Moultrie, Georgia, on July 29, 1938. She was the daughter of the late Marion Eugene and Carolyn Greene Sirmans. Jane graduated Moultrie High School in 1956. Jane completed her degree in X-ray technology and was certified in X-ray and ultrasound imaging. She worked at Colquitt County Regional Hospital in Moultrie and Archbold in Thomasville. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Eugene Sirmans.
Pat and Jane married in December 1984. They were full of life and love for their children, grandchildren, extended family, community, and church. Jane was a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church where she and Pat both served in many capacities including deacon, choir, and teaching Sunday School. Pat also served there as treasurer and property committee chairman. They were also both very active members of their community. Jane was a member of the local chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution. Pat was a member of the Civitan Club, and they were both involved with the Moultrie Little Theater for many years.
Pat and Jane are survived by their children, grandchildren, and a great grandson. Surviving children include James B. Cobb, Jr and his wife, Donna of Milpitas, CA, Jimmy Tomlinson and wife Jill of Colorado Springs, CO, Phil Tomlinson and wife Cheryl of Mobile, AL, Terri (Tomlinson) Blackwell and husband Chuck of Sumrall, MS, and Angie Tomlinson of Tallahassee, FL.
Proud and loving grandparents, Pat and Jane are also survived by their grandchildren Ashley Suzanne Cobb, James Marion Cobb, Ashley Kay Wise and husband Patrick, Ivey Wynne Tomlinson, James Connor Tomlinson, Tyler Joseph Tomlinson, Ryan Michael Tomlinson, Emily Elizabeth Tomlinson, Toivo Paul Tomlinson-Ryan, Abigail Waldon, & Jericho Ryan, Austin Allen Tomlinson, and great grandson, William Connor Wise.
They are also survived by siblings Sylvia Davis and husband Bobby of Valdosta, Jane Dreitzler of Charlotte, NC, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:00PM-7:00PM Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Baptist Church, 201 12th Avenue, S.E., Moultrie, GA 31768.
