Johnny Cooper 72 of Ray City, GA passed away Friday afternoon January 12, 2018 in South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, GA after declining health for several months. He was born July 22, 1945 to the late John Thomas and Sarah Lucille Merritt Cooper in Broxton, Coffee Co. GA. He lived most of his life in the Ray City, GA and was a mechanic through Civil Service at Moody Air Force Base until his retirement. The Cooper Brothers was a well known name in the Dirt Track Racing sport for many years. They started racing in 1968 their yellow # 68 race car traveled many miles winning races until 1998 retiring from the racing business as well. His church, the First Baptist Church in Ray City, GA will miss his presence especially his singing in the church choir. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Ruby Bristol Cooper, Brothers Danny Ray Cooper and Jerome Cooper, Sisters Betty Joyce Gray and Martha Jean Berger, Great Grandson Kevin Drake Cooper.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, January 15, 2018 in the First Baptist Church in Ray City with burial following in Beaver Dam Cemetery. Mr. Cooper will be placed in the church 1 hour prior to the services. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 14, 2018 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the funeral home.
