God called Larry Ronald Whitley, 71, of Ochlocknee home Wednesday May 3, 2017 at Legacy Village in Thomasville.
He was born September 4, 1945 in Berrien County, the middle child of the late Robert Lee Whitley and the late Doris Shaw Whitley. A quiet gentle soul, Ronald loved his family and his heritage. He was an avid collector and story teller. He loved telling stories about growing up with twelve brothers and sisters. Those stories will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was a machinist with Wilkerson Textile and an Army Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters: Linda Taylor and Annell Bradford.
He is survived by 2 sisters: Jo Ann Knight of Ochlocknee and Ruby Gray of Lakeland; 8 brothers: Bud Whitley, Terrell Whitley, Don Whitley, Carroll Whitley all of Alapaha, Clifton Whitley of Tifton, Jerry Whitley of Enigma, Waymon Whitley and Earl Whitley both of Nashville.
Funeral services will be held Saturday May 6, 2017 at 11 AM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with Pastor Raymond Cason officiating. Interment will follow in Flat Creek Cemetery. Visitation is Friday 6-8 PM.
