Lewis Steve Griffin, born April 9, 1934 in Brooks County to the late Mattie Lou and Turner Griffin, passed in the morning hours of March 6, 2018.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Capers, Travis and Herman Griffin and one sister, Helen Griffin Hanks. Mr. Griffin is survived by his wife of sixty five years, Mary Alice Griffin of Valdosta, three sons, Jeff (Karen) of Flowery Branch, GA, Bruce (Donna) of Thibodaux, LA and Randy (Jody) Griffin of Dixie, GA, three grandsons, Ryan, Justin and Jake, two granddaughters, Kelly and Lexi and seven great grandchildren, Carson, Sawyer, Addi, Christian, Mahaley, Fletcher and Vada.
He served in the United States Army in 1954 and 1955 and had a successful career in construction following his military service. After retirement he enjoyed his time as President of the Morven School Renovation Committee and working with friends and former classmates on the restoration of the old Morven school.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 9, 2018 at two p. m. in the chapel of the Martin McLane Funeral Home in Hahira with Reverend Bob Willis officiating. Burial will follow at Campground Cemetery near Morven. The family will receive friends from six until eight p. m. Thursday at the funeral home.
