Margaret Frances Lankford 95
In the quiet hours, the Dear Heavenly Father reached down and said Come Margaret, lets go home where you can rest. She slipped away on June 30, 2017 to go to her heavenly home. She was born June 16, 1922, in Aberdeen, MS, to the late Tisdale and Lucille Jones. Ms. Lankford was the very first female private detective in the country and the first private detective in Valdosta, having owned and operated Vaughans Detective Agency. She sold Avon for over 40 years, as well as worked with Home Health and the telephone company. Ms. Lankford was a volunteer Pink Lady, a member of Woodmen of the World, the PTA President at Parker Mathis School, and an Eastern Star and American Legion Auxiliary member.
Ms. Margaret loved her family very much and she was dearly loved by her family and many friends, most of whom called her Miss Margaret. She always had a ready smile for everyone, and she could often be heard saying Smile, God Loves You! Her joy was always helping someone in need. She was of the Methodist faith and loved her Lord and her church, Mt. Zion. She was always ready to go fishing, loved to cook and enjoyed traveling.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her three husbands: H.L. Vaughan, Colonel Charles Franks, and Gene Lankford and son, Henry (Hank) L. Vaughan.
