Martha Allen Jones
After graduating high school, she worked at Moody Field, where she spied her future love of sixty years, her "BJ," playing softball. Together they made a life from Fairbanks to Charleston before settling in Adel next to her parents in 1972. She returned to Moody with the Civil Service where she worked as a freight rate specialist until medically retiring in 1991. Vasculitis took her sight, but it could not rob her spirit and tenacity. Whether you knew her as a friend, coworker, or "Sister," you were wrapped in her acceptance and love. Fiercely private and independent, she exemplified Proverbs 31. She will be remembered for her encompassing love of family, affection for strawberries, and her pineapple and lemon cheese layer cakes.
Mrs. Jones is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Don and Barbara Leslie of Gray, Georgia; sisters-in-law: Audrey Collins of Jacksonville, Florida and Marie Jones of Florida; many nephews and nieces: Brent and Kim Leslie, Donyale Leslie, David and Suzanne Bradley, Jackye Holt, Dyne and Bill Bollenback, Kim Mulvey, Lori and Mark Zwecker, Debi and Eddie Johnston, Cindy Drury, Mark Collins, Paul Jones and Allen Jones; and several cousins.
The funeral service for Mrs. Jones will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday December 19, 2018 in the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home with Rev. Mickey Lindsey officiating.
