Newman's Story

Mr. Newman Jones, 94, of Lenox, passed away January 8, 2018 at Berrien County Hospital. He was born on February 14, 1923 in Jacksonville, Florida to Cecil Newman Jones and Loulla Hancock Jones. He lived in Cook County most of his life where he attended Lenox Christian Fellowship Church, was a graduate of Georgia Southwestern College and was a retired farmer. He also served honorably in the U.S. Army Air Corps where he was posted as a tailgunner on a B-24 Bomber during World War II.

Mr. Jones is survived by his wife of 67 years, Katie V. Lott Jones; three sons and a daughter-in-law: Cecil Jones and Wayne Jones, both of Lenox, and John and Holly Jones of Lyons, Georgia; two grandchildren: Andrew and Larkin Jones of Charleston, South Carolina, and Jamie Michael Jones of Lyons; and a brother, Cohen Jones of Lenox. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Zach Jones.

The funeral service for Mr. Jones will take place Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 4:00 PM in the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home South (1804 S. Hutchinson Ave. in Adel) with Rev. Jimmie Hinson officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Church Cemetery in Berrien County. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
