Otis's Story

Otis Lane Renfroe of Valdosta passed away March 9, 2017 at Fellowship Home in Valdosta after a long illness. He was born July 2, 1930 in Brooks County. Mr. Renfroe graduated from Valdosta High School, attended Emory Jr. College and graduated from the University of Houston. He served in the United States Air Force and spent a year in Korea. Upon returning he married Eve Hanahan in 1956. Mr. Renfroe became involved in agricultural chemicals and later wood preserving chemicals. He was a deacon and elder in the First Presbyterian Church and taught the men's Bible class for many years. Mr. Renfroe enjoyed a variety of sports and was an outstanding athlete. He served on the Board of Directors for various civic and business organizations.
Mr. Renfroe is survived by his wife, Eve H. Renfroe of Valdosta, his son and daughter in law, Jim and Lyla Renfroe of Bellevue, Washington, his daughter, Rena Mitchell of Jacksonville Beach, FL, grandchildren, Amelia Renfroe, James and Ivy Renfroe, Shelly Mitchell and Amanda Renfroe and a number of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brother Bob Renfroe and his son, Allen Lane Renfroe.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 12, 2017 from three until four p. m. at First Presbyterian Church and a memorial service will begin at four p. m.
