Robert Lamar Collins, Sr., 86, of Valdosta died Monday, June 11, 2018 at his home. He was born in Aline, Georgia on November 16, 1931 to the late Gordon and Norbie Edenfield Collins and had lived in Valdosta for many years. Mr. Collins attended Crossroads Baptist Church. He retired from the United States Air Force and then retired as an ROTC Instructor from Tift County High School.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Martha Sue Collins of Valdosta; his children and their spouses, Robert Lamar Collins, Jr. and Betty Renee Collins of Abilene, TX; Susan Collins Yeager and Robert H. Yeager of Valdosta, Mark Richard Collins of Sharpsburg, GA; seven grandchildren, Heather Nicole Bryan of Lakeland, FL, Robert Lamar Collins, III and Anna Grace Collins, Shannon Renee Maynard and Jeremy Maynard, Stacey Marie Collins all of Abilene, TX, Luke Richard Collins of Valdosta, Dawson Patrick Collins, Cooper Lee Collins both of Sharpsburg, GA; six great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews in Georgia and Louisiana. He was preceded in death by a grandson, John Warner Longmire and a brother, Norwood Collins.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm, Saturday, June 16, 2018 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with his son, Rev. Robert L. Collins, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
