Robert Grant's Story
Robert Grant Hastings, 68, of Valdosta died Thursday, April 13, 2017 at his home. He was born on November 4, 1948 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to the late Grant Virgil and Margaret Markland Hastings and had lived in Valdosta for the past thirty eight years. Mr. Hastings was a member of the First Baptist Church where he served as one of the teachers in the Outlaw Sunday School Class. He was the co-owner of Bishop Cleaners and retired in 2009 and began Discipleship work through Fisherman. Mr. Hastings served as Lay Pastor of the Barney United Methodist Church in 1996 and also had served as the interim pastor at Ousley Baptist Church. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, served on the Valdosta Board of Education from 1996-1999 and a former member of the Azalea City Kiwanis Club.
Survivors include his wife, Sandy Bishop Hastings of Valdosta; three daughters and sons in law, Holly and Jim Evans of Holly Springs, NC, Robyn and Josh Anderson of Scotts Valley, CA, Meg and Kyle Kimberlin of Las Vegas, NV; his grandchildren, Katie Beth Evans, Grant Evans, Ocean Anderson, Selah Anderson, Avynlee Anderson, Maggie Jeanne Kimberlin, Julianne Kimberlin, Sydney Kimberlin.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 4pm, Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Glen Gray and Rev. Richard Trawick officiating. A private burial will be held at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday following the service at the church.
