Roy S.'s Story
Roy S. Fennell, Jr., 91, of Valdosta, died on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Addington Place in Brunswick, Georgia. He was born in Dublin, Georgia on July 25, 1926 to the late Roy, Sr. and Hilda Register Fennell. Mr. Fennell served during WWII in the Army Air Corps. Following his time in the military he retired from Georgia Power where he worked in Energy Services and the Marketing Department. He was a past member of the Lions Club, and he loved to play golf, help his neighbors, and spend time with his grandchildren. Mr. Fennell was a member of the Park Avenue United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Chip and Beth Fennell of St. Simons Island, Georgia, and Dan and Lorri Fennell of Limestone, Tennessee; three grandchildren and their spouses, Libby Fennell of Los Angeles, California, and Jacob and Hilaree Fennell of Los Angeles, California, and Dani and Austin Dixon of Little Rock, Arkansas; his great-grandson, Knox Dixon of Little Rock, Arkansas; a special niece, Vikki Tanner and nephew, David Tanner both of Atlanta, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Jean Courson Fennell.
Services for Roy S. Fennell, Jr. will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 26, 2018 in the chapel of the Carson McLane with Rev. Richard Soper officiating. Entombment will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home.
