Thomas James Moore, Jr., 69, of Valdosta died Monday, January 29, 2018 at the Clinch County Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born on July 7, 1949 in Echols County, Georgia to the late Tom and Geneva Moore and grew up in Mayday with his six sisters and one brother before moving to Valdosta. Thomas was a heavy machine operator and a farmer. He was a jack of many trades, a carpenter and a painter. He loved being outside and was happiest when he was on a tractor. He loved sharing whatever he grew in his garden with his family and friends.
Survivors include his children, Tommy Moore, III of Londonderry, NH, Jenna Moore Coody of Valdosta, Lisa Marie Moore of Columbus, GA; step children, Michelle and Tyler of Columbus, GA; three sisters and brothers in law, Juanita and Ralph Daugharty of Howell, Reida and Robert Johnson of Stockton, Eva and Grover Cox of Jacksonville, FL; one brother and sister in law, Terry and Frances Moore of Valdosta; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Hellen Moore Woodruff, Bobbie Moore Roberts, Ann Dell Moore Knowles. God blessed us so much as a family to be able to take care of our brother the last few months of his life. We have many loving memories and may he rest in peace.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Friday, February 2, 2018 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Ted Sauls officiating. Burial will follow in the Good Hope Cemetery.
