Thomas "Tom" Ray Kelley, age 81, of Valdosta, Ga., passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, 11:00 AM at Redland Baptist Church, Valdosta, Georgia with burial at Concord Cemetery, Greenville, Florida.
Visitation will be Friday from 6 -8 at Beggs Funeral Home, Madison, Florida .
He was born October 27, 1936 in Valdosta, Georgia to the late Walter Ray Kelley and Monette Tadlock Kelley. Rev. Kelley is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sandra Penn Kelley of Valdosta, Georgia; 3 daughters; Lisa Kae Phelps-Dorris, (Gary) Gina Rae Shiver (Jamie),and Mona Lea Ann Kelley all of Valdosta, Georgia; 2 grand daughters: Kelley Phelps Parker (Travis), Jamie Lea Ann Shiver (Atlanta) 4 grandsons, Allan Thomas Phelps, Valdosta, Justin Dorris (Sherry Okum), Tupelo, Mississippi, Tyler Dorris, Lake City, Fl., Christoper Shiver, Valdosta, 4 Great-Grandaughters: Raeley Kae Parker and Lela Faye Parker, Rose Tyler Dorris of Lake City, FL, and Kaitlyn Shiver of Valdosta, GA.; 2 great grandsons Timothy Parker and Jakob Shiver of Valdosta, Georgia; 2 sisters:: Jessie Lee Blanton of Gainesville, Annie Lois Simpson of Valdosta, GA, Mary Louise Palmer of Wellborn, FL, and Monette Brooks of Ray City, Georgia;
He was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 sisters, Jessie Lee Blanton and Anna Lois Simpson.
Rev. Kelley was a graduate of Greenville High School in Greenville, Florida. He attended North Florida Junior College and Luther Rice Seminary, and served various churches in Madison, Lowndes and Brooks counties. Most recent he served as interim pastor at New Home Baptist Church. He spent over 25 years in the missionary fields building churches in Haiti, Dominican Republic, Venezuela and South Caloos.. He had a special place in his heart for the people of Haiti. He was the Director of the E.C. Tyner Youth Camp at Pickett Lake, Florida for many years touching the life's of many young people.. He was well known throughout the community for this love and compassion, and was a loving father, husband, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved to fish and fix old grandfather clocks.
