Virginia Rose's Story

Virginia Rose (Ginny) Wetherington, 72, of Valdosta, died at her residence Friday, April 14, 2017. She was born November 4, 1944 in Valdosta. She was the daughter of the late B.J. and Virginia Carter Wetherington. Ginny attended the Valdosta Public Schools and Howey-in-the-Hills Academy.
For many years, Ginny lived in Jacksonville, Florida where she worked for a veterinarian. Growing up, she enjoyed horseback riding and caring for animals. Ginny enjoyed gardening and her family of cats. Ginny was a people person and never met a stranger. She was always lending a hand to help her friends and neighbors. Ginny loved her family very much.
Ginny is survived by her sister, Mary Ann Ratcliff of Winston Salem, North Carolina; her brother, Ben Wetherington (Nisey) of Valdosta; one nephew, Cal Ratcliff (Mary) of Winston Salem, North Carolina; four nieces, Ginger Thomas (John), Nancy Figan (Kirk), both of Winston Salem, North Carolina, Rae Barker of Valdosta, and Trent Wetherington of Newnan; numerous grand nephews, nieces, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 1 P.M. in the mausoleum at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens with Dr. Bob Moon officiating. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.mclanecares.com. Carson McLane Funeral Home.
