Willa Mae (Smith) Combs, 91, of Berlin, GA, went to be with her Savior on Thursday, February 15, 2018. She was born August 15, 1926 in Waycross, GA to the late Hannah Jordan and James Daniel Smith.
Willa graduated valedictorian from her high school, Waconna High in Waycross, GA and worked in the insurance industry in Jacksonville, Florida before becoming a homemaker. She raised her family in Valdosta, Georgia where she was an active member of her church, Grace Baptist. She was a current member of New Life Baptist Church in Adel, GA. Willa will be remembered for her delightful wit and being the life of the party at family gatherings. Nothing brought her greater joy than seeing those she loved happy. Her family will forever treasure those cherished memories. Most of all, she will be remembered for her relationship with her Savior Jesus. She talked and sang to Him daily and was never ashamed to share her love for Him with others and took every opportunity to do so.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, George Combs and three siblings, Twymon, Revis and Hollis Smith and is survived by a loving sister, Ferrell Tillman, 94, of Waycross, GA.
Willa is survived by her children, Vickie Loeser (husband David) of Eugene,OR, Danny Combs (wife Teresa) of Jackson, GA, Kathy Cardin (husband Donald) of Berlin, GA and Donna Budd (husband Chip) of Tallahassee, FL. She was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grand children along with many nieces, nephews and extended family that she loved dearly.
The family will receive visitors on Monday, February 19 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm at New Life Baptist Church (2904 Hwy. 76 in Adel). The funeral service will begin at 3:00pm immediately following the visitation with Rev. Harris Whitman and Rev. Donnie Duncan officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Dusty Cardin, Stoney Cardin, Hunter Cardin, John Combs, Joey Tillman and Dylan Johnson will serve as pallbearers.
