William Errol Sewell, Sr., 79, of Mansfield, died January 31, 2018. Mr. Sewell was born in Valdosta on July 3, 1938 to Bill and Verna Lee Godwin Sewell. In 1945 he joined the Valdosta Boys' Club and later credited this organization, through activities led by caring Club workers, for guiding him into a purposeful, rewarding life.
He worked with Boys and Girls Clubs of America for 40 years, devoted to helping boys and girls to reach their highest potential. His career grew to the national level serving as BGCA Senior Vice President, Field Services, where he guided Boys and Girls Clubs professionals nationwide in leadership development. Upon retiring to Florida he continued serving in the area of leadership training for Airline Transport Professionals, ATP Flight School.
The skills first planted at his local Boys and Girls Club grew to give him opportunities of service in community and church as well as the workplace.
Dedication to God, his family, and his work won him deep lasting friendships within a life worth remembering.
