Buddy was in my brother's (Lonnie) wedding on Dec. 24th, 1966 in Marion, N. C. We lived on Green St. in Rutherfordton. I was about ten years old when Buddy came by in his beautiful new dark blue Pontiac GTO with black interior. It had a record player on the console that played 45's. Great memories! I'm so sorry to hear about Buddy's passing. Please accept my condolences.

I haven't seen Bud for many many years. Bud and his sister Maxine are my 1st cousins. I have lived in California since 1955. So sorry to learn of your untimely death. I know your sister loved you, and she always spoke highly of you in our emails. We are all McDade's and call N. Carolina home. Sheila and I were so saddened when we got the news. Rest in Peace my cousin

My first memory of Bud is when I was around 10 years old and my family was on a vacation visiting relatives, including my dad's brother's (Yates McDade) family. Bud was so cute that I had an instant crush on him. My mother pulled me aside and told me he was my cousin and that I wasn't allowed to feel that way! I was so disappointed. When I see Bud's picture it reminds me of my dad especially his hair. It seems all the McDade men were blessed with a great head of hair. Maxine kept me updated on Bud's declining health which I truly appreciated, and was saddened when I heard he had died. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this sad time.

The loss we feel is real, but so is the love we all shared with Bud. His kindness and gentle spirit will always be remembered. I enjoyed so much his visit with us her in coastal Carolina. Our last time together, we were visiting him there last April. We were sitting outside under the umbrella overlooking the pond. My husband decided to walk out on the dock, even though it was in a little disrepair. Bud and Sissie were so concerned about it collapsing with him. My husband's a big teaser, and made the most of the circumstance. He never hit the water, and the dock was fine, but there was a lot of friendly fussing and then laughter. Though sick, even then, he was so warm and friendly. Little d...id I know it would be our last time together. I talked with him on the phone a few days ago, and he did his very best to carry on a conversation with me. Maxine said he talked to me more than he had anyone for a while. I pray that you, his closest family will find comfort and peace as you share memories and celebrate the man, the father, the brother, and the friend that he was.Read more
