Mr. Arthur Lee Massey 
(July 23, 1954 - March 29, 2017)
Arthur L. Massey fondly knowns as 'Poochie" was born to the late Walter and Lucy Mae Massey July 23, 1954 in Thomasville, GA.
Arthur was educated in the Valdosta City School System and a proud Valdosta High Wildcat Football Player and member of the graduating Class of 1975. Arthur furthered his education at Northeastern State University where he also played football and pledged and became a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. He later answered the call of his country and enlisted in the United States Army and served for 23years with hard dedication. After returning back to Valdosta, he was employed by the City of Valdosta for 19years and retired March 31, 2017. Arthur was also a 32nd Rank Sublime Prince of Royal Secret.
Arthur accepted Christ at a early age and was a devoted member of Grace Victory Church where he served as a usher and leadership of the finance department and the men of prayer. On March 29, 2017, God whispered, "Job well done my child, time to come home."
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters: Veoria Massey and Mary Lee James; and three brothers: Walter Massey, Jr., Roosevelt Massey and Tellis Massey.
Arthur leaves his legacy of love, wisdom and memories to his four loving daughters: Indy Massey (Jimmy Walker), Freida Massey-Frazier (Jacquez), Dominique Massey and Randale Massey; seven grandchildren: Anthonette, Antania, Briana, Destiny, Shaquez, Jimmylvia and Jahkeem; three great-grandchildren; two brothers: John Lee and David Massey (Serilla); two sisters-in-law: Betsy Mae and Dorothy Massey; his Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Brotherhood, Masonic Brotherhood, his extended family: the Riley's and a host of loving nephews, nieces, cousins, beloved family and friends.
The celebration of life for the late Mr. Arthur Lee Massey will be held Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 11:00am from the sanctuary of Grace Victory Church.
Pastor Robert Daniels will officiate.
Interment will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens.
Public viewing will be held Friday, April 7 from 10:00am until 8:00pm at Godfrey Funeral Home. Godfrey Funeral Home, LLC
