Darrel L. Coglon, 80, of Lake Park, died on September 25, 2017 at his residence. Born in Exira, Iowa on March 20, 1937 to the late Howard & Velma Hennick Coglon. Darrel was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served for 6 years, attaining the rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class, aboard the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. He retired from PCS Phosphate, White Springs, FL after 24 years of service. Prior to his retirement at PCS, he retired from Aero Corp. in Lake City, after 20 years of service. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Coglon of Lake Park; four daughters, Amanda (Leslie) Sharp of Lake City, FL, Nancy (Terry) Huddleston of Lake City, FL, Melissa (Joe) Morey of Lake Park, Kim (Les) Haskew of Davie, FL; four sons, Thomas Smith of Lake Park, Michael (Sandy) Coglon, Paul (Amanda) Coglon, Daren Coglon, all of Lake City, FL; grandchildren, Katelyn & Kaley Sharp, Kelley & Ashley Huddleston, Hunter & Gage Morey, Brooke & Turner Smith, Jessica Chapman, Leslie Ann Larkins, Christina Williamson, and Kyle Coglon. Also surviving are seven great grandchildren, his father in law, Eddie Hughes of Lake Park, brother in law, Chris (Gail) Hughes, sister in law, Carol (Norman) Strickland, and Debbie (David) Price. He is preceded in death by his twin brother, Delbert Coglon, and a sister Nancy Jo.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m., Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at McLane Lakewood Funeral Home. Rev. Mickey Corbett and Rev Tyler Carter will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service. Cremation will follow the service, as per Darrels wishes.
