Emma Ruth's Story
Emma Ruth Dykeman, 86, of Valdosta died Saturday, March 4, 2017 at her home. She was born in Statenville, Georgia on December 6, 1930 to the late William Douglas and Emma Herring Clayton and was a lifelong resident of this area. Mrs. Dykeman was a member of the New Harvest United Methodist Church and loved attending church everytime the doors were opened. She loved her family and cooking.
Survivors include her son, William R. Dykeman of Jacksonville, FL; two grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Prine of Lake Park and Iona Daugharty of Statenville; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Dykeman, a daughter, Pamela Jo Dykeman, five brothers, Kenneth Clayton, A. B. Clayton, Ernie Clayton, Wilmer Clayton and Vernon Clayton, two sisters, Judith Guy and Annie Lee.
Graveside services will be held at 11am, Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens with Pastor Mark Moore, Sr. officiating.
