George Dawson Darsey 84 of McDonough, GA passed away Saturday morning, April 22, 2017 at his residence after a lengthy illness. He was born and raised in Lakeland, GA. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He moved to Atlanta in 1956, worked for Smith Transfer for 32 years. Also, worked for Patten Seed Company for 12 years. Dawson enjoyed his family and friends, his farm land, pecan orchard, and visiting Lakeland. Daswon was loved by many and brought laughter to everyone.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Latrelle Darsey. His son's Scott Darsey, Joe Darsey and daughter Cheryl Darsey. Survivors also include: Grandaughter Melissa Hill, Grandson's Michael Darsey and Casey Klobe and great granddaughter Aubrie Klobe and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, April 24, 2017 in the Lakeland Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial to follow in Burnt Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday April 23rd, 2017 at the funeral home. Sympathy may be expressed online at www.musicfuneralservices.com.
