Hazel McDonald's Story
Hazel McDonald Wetherington, 87, of Valdosta died Monday, March 20, 2017 at Heritage Healthcare. She was born on June 30, 1929 in Lake Park to the late Troy Eddie and Lilly Jordan Hesters and was a lifelong resident of Lowndes County. Mrs. Wetherington was a member of the Park Avenue United Methodist Church and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She enjoyed working in her yard and flowers. Mrs. Wetherington was a fan of the Valdosta Wildcats and Florida State Seminoles. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Mike and Evelyn McDonald of Valdosta, Chrystle and Mike Ross of Tifton, Patty and David Childers of Cordele; her grandchildren, April Corbett, Crystal Corbett, Marla Ross, Sunny Ross, Kasey Childers Turner, Kayla Childers; her great grandchildren, Kendall Maxwell, Temo Jennings, Koryn Faircloth Barrentine, Jessie Frederick, Anakin Hatcher; her sister, Jessie Hurtt of Sparks, GA, her sister in law, Maude Hesters of Valdosta. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert L. McDonald, Jr. and H. Ronald Wetherington; her grandson, Christopher Maxwell and a brother, Ward Hesters.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Thursday, March 23, 2017 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Hale Bishop and Rev. Willie Beasley officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10am-11am at the funeral home.
