Jan Hughes, 86 passed away Monday, May 1, 2017 at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born on March 11, 1931 to the late Lucille and Bill Luchterhand. Jan was born and raised in Racine, Wisconsin. She came to Valdosta, GA in 1964 and married the late Murial W. Hughes in May of 1969. She was a very selfless woman that helped raise five children while working as a secretary for multiple companies including Smith & Smith Architect, Fieldman Insurance, and First Command.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Murial W. Hughes and three of her children, Billy Lambert, Susan Spell, and Ray Hughes.
Survivors include: two sons and daughter-in-laws, Doug and Linda Hughes and Steve and Cheryl Hughes. Jan also leaves behind 6 grandchildren, Christa (Jim) Lloyd , Danya Spell, Dustin (Ramsey) Hughes, Megan (Mark) Hayes, and Billy and Brandi Hughes, 10 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 13, 2017 at West End Presbyterian Church at 2 pm.
