Mable Ruth Meeks, age 89, of Macclenny, Florida passed away March 3, 2017 at her residence with family by her side. She was born in Valdosta, Georgia on November 22, 1927 to the late Joseph Curtis Norman and Ruth Prosser Norman. Mable graduated from Valdosta High School in 1944. She later moved to Baker County in 1973. Mable worked as a Bookkeeper for Citizens Bank for 30 years before retiring. Mable was a devoted and lifelong member of West Jacksonville Advent Christian Church where she taught Sunday School and loved working with children. She enjoyed hobbies such as sewing and crafting jewelry. More than anything Mable enjoyed spending time with and cooking for friends and family. She is predeceased by her parents; her loving and devoted husband of 68 years, Milton D. Meeks; brothers, Jack, Ralph, and Julian Norman; sister, Vivian Colson.
Mable is survived by her daughters, Carol Meeks Baker and Kay Meeks Hall of Macclenny, FL; brothers, Charles, Jerry and Jimmy Norman; sister, Sarah McDonald; grandchildren, Bobby (Donna) Hall, Pamela Baker Robinson, David "Brian" (DeeDee) Hall, and Karen (Chris) Baker Clifton; her great grandchildren, Kristen Hall, Dylan Hall, Ryan Hall, Shea Robinson, Shanna Robinson, Wyatt Clifton, and Jessie Clifton.
A Celebration of Mable's life will be held on Tuesday March, 7, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at West Jacksonville Advent Christian Church in Jacksonville, FL with Pastor Christopher Hall officiating. Interment will follow at Macedonia Cemetery, Baker County, FL. The family will receive friends at 12:30 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.
