Martha Kay's Story
Martha Kay Copeland Harris was born August 28, 1947, in Valdosta Georgia, to the late Haivard Copeland and the late Lillie Mae Mathis Copeland.
Martha received her education in the Valdosta City School System and was a member of the 1965 graduating class of Pinevale High School. Martha was a dedicated and long-time employee of Winn-Dixie where she retired as a Manager, after forty plus years of service.
Martha was a sweet, loving, and compassionate lady. Her life was full of loving deeds as she considered those in need. She was a woman of strength and honor. She was always different in her own unique way and thousands will miss her all of their days.
Martha was granted eternal rest, Thursday, June 29, 2017.
Martha leaves fond memories to cherish, two sisters: Beverly Holloway (Reggie) of Valdosta, Georgia and Subrena Marshall (Tony) of Hahira, Georgia; one brother: Haywood Copeland (Loretha) of Valdosta, Georgia: one uncle: Willie Sam Bivins of Valdosta, Georgia; her nieces and nephews: Terrence Williams, Reginald Thomas, Haywood L. Copeland II (Chantell, William White, Tony Marshall, Jr., Natasha Copeland, Razelenn White, Tiffany Anderson, and Hailey White; four adopted brothers: James Mitchell (Pearl), Rodney Carter, Charlie James Copeland (Sonya), and Frazier Jones (Pat); her dear friends: Betty and Julius Holloway, Ben McMillan, Irene Register, Mr. and Mrs. West, and Rodger from Winn Dixie; and a host of additional family and friends.
The Celebration of Life for the late Mrs. Martha K. Harris will be held Saturday, July 8, at 11:00am from the sanctuary of New Beginnings Church Ministries in Lakeland, GA.
Bishop Willie Roberson is the pastor and will officiate.
Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Public viewing will be held Friday, July 7, from 10:00am until 8:00pm at Godfrey Funeral Home.
