Richard Shreve Scharf, 82, of Valdosta, died on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born on October 5, 1934 in Wheeling, West Virginia to the late Francis and Ruth Shreve Scharf. Mr. Scharf served his country honorably in the United States Army. He received his Bachelors degree from Ohio State University and was a certified public accountant here in Valdosta and operated Richard S. Scharf CPA. Mr. Scharf loved reading, was a big sports enthusiast and was a member of MENSA. He was a member of West End Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Scharf of Valdosta; two daughters and a son-in-law, Christy and Scott Davis of Alabama and Dee Dee Scharf of Newberry, Florida; step-son, Dan Hall and his fiancé, Monica Marlowe of Smyrna, Georgia; step-daughter and her husband, Katrina and Jordan Essoe of Pittsburg, California; grandchildren, Ansley Davis and Grey Davis of Alabama, Shannon Locascio and Christine Locascio both of Newberry, Florida, Rebecca Hall of Valdosta and Danielle Hall of Douglasville, Georgia, and other loving family and friends.
A memorial service for Mr. Richard Shreve Scharf will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2017 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. John Akers officiating.
