Mr. Roy Ray, Jr., 74 of Berrien County passed away Thursday, April 6, 2017 at South Georgia Medical Center. The Lord decided he needed another angel, and he knew Roy was sick and tired. Roy was born December 30, 1942 in Berrien County to the late Roy and Willie Mae Griffin Ray. He was a kind and loving man who cherished his family and his many friends. One of his friends said if a person did not like Roy then there was something wrong with them.
Mr. Ray retired from the insurance business as a insurance agent with Liberty National. He loved hunting and fishing, but he was mostly passionate about us raising Logan as Tracie had asked. He enjoyed and worked hard in the CHIPS Program to identify children with their DNA, fingerprints, and voice recognition. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include his wife, Penny Ray of Berrien County; son, Mark (Misty) Ray of Nashville; grandsons, Logan Ray, and Justin Brown; stepson, Heath O'Herron of Perry, GA.; step-granddaughter, Heather (Jeff) O'Herron Albert; and great grandson, Samuel L. Albert. Mr. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Betty Ray Knox; his loving daughter, Tracie,; niece, Ann, and nephew, Wycliff Knox.
A graveside service will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Westview Cemetery with Masonic and Military rites in Nashville with Dr. Danny V. Ray and Rev. Willie Heath officiating. The family will be receiving friends Saturday afternoon from 4-6 p.m. at Purvis Funeral Home. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.purvisfh.com.
