Thomas Franklin Gehring, Sr. - 75
Of Hahira, GA passed away on April 3, 2017 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on January 31, 1942 in Newark, NJ to George and Mary (McGlade) Gehring. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked as a union electrician and was a member of IBEW - Local 400. He was an avid collector of Lionel Model Trains and was a member of the Train Collectors Association. He was also a member of the Classic Car Club of Valdosta and restored a 1964 Chevy Corvair. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved Grandson, Mikey Startek.
Survivors include his Wife of 42 years, Lois Gehring of Hahira, GA; Daughter, Heather Jarvis (Corey) of Valdosta, GA; Son, Tom Gehring, Jr. of New Jersey; Step Daughter, Deborah Martinez (Jose) of New Jersey; Step Son, Jeff Hallamore of New Jersey; Grandchildren, Melissa, John, Pam, Emily, Ashley; Numerous Great Grandchildren; Sister, Anna Vaughn of New Jersey; Brothers & Sister-in-Law, George Gehring, Jr. of New Jersey; Joseph Gehring, Sr. (Yolanda) of Florida; And numerous Nieces and Nephews.
As per his wishes he will be cremated with no formal services held. He will be laid to rest in Andersonville National Cemetery at a later date.
