Zachary's Story

VALDOSTA Zach Butler, 19, of Valdosta, formerly of Tifton, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2017, in Valdosta. His funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, July 16, 2017, in the Sanctuary of Tiftons First Baptist Church with the Rev. Christian Colson officiating. Zach will be laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday, July 15, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary of Tifton's First Baptist Church.
Jerry Rodriguez, Cody Tucker, Ethan Bryant, Cully Jones, Logan Barr, Jack Hickox, Cole Ryder and Jaren Armijo will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity at Valdosta State University, Tanner Nimmo, Jake Brooks, Bo Kennedy, Tanner Ewing, Ryan Bryant, Charlie Reinhardt, Sam Miller, Sam Tucker, Ryan Smith, D. J. Nickell, Tanner Brown, Robby Booth, Wade Vanduzer; and all his friends and classmates of Tift County High School and Valdosta State University.
Born May 11, 1998 in Tifton, Zach was the son of Jennifer Dishler Cavenaugh and Jake Cavenaugh of Tifton. He was a student at Valdosta State University, where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He was employed at Valdosta Furniture Company and enjoyed life and always brought a smile to everyones face. He loved fishing and played baseball his whole life and played for Tift County High School.
In addition to his parents, Zach is survived by one brother, Eason Cavenaugh of Tifton; his grandparents, Phil and Debbie Cavenaugh of Tifton, Donald and April Butler of Yulee, Florida; his grandmother, Ilene Dudley of Florida; his uncle, Jason Dishler of Tifton; and many other uncles, aunts, great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins.
