Valdosta, GA - Betty Peppers Sanders, 91, of Valdosta passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on May 3, 2025. Born on March 5, 1934, Betty was a daughter of Howard Milton Peppers and Pearl Smith Peppers.
Betty grew up in Live Oak, attending Suwannee County High School, marching with the band as a Majorette and graduating in the early 1950's. She moved to Valdosta soon after graduation to live with her sister and brother-in-law. Betty's first job in Valdosta was with the Langdale Company followed by other employment with businesses including First Presbyterian Church, Carson McLane Funeral Home, and Valdosta State College. Betty retired from Valdosta State University in the early 2000's. In retirement she once again worked with the Carson McLane Funeral Home on a part-time basis. Betty loved gardening and working in her flowers, fishing with friends and shopping for clothes. She especially loved cooking for and spending time with her family, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, her siblings, nieces, and nephews. A long-time devoted member of First Presbyterian Church, Betty enjoyed singing in the choir. Pink was her favorite color!
Survivors are her daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Tom Parrish of Valdosta, Kathy and Leon Taylor of Valdosta; grandchildren, Matthew (Silvia) Parrish of Tampa, Erin (Wesley) Fielding of Thomasville, Kayla (Luke) Fletcher of Braselton, Laura (Jared) Brown of Bonaire, Kaitlin (Charles) Klingemann of Hahira, and Ansley Taylor of Warner Robins; great grandchildren, Ben, Olivia, Noah, Kate, Micah, Salem, Elliana, Lucy, Ian, Alice, Clark, Julia, Ethan, Charlie, Andrew, Cara, Reed, Millie and Kirby. Betty is also survived by her sister-in-law, Cleo Williams of Cross City, Florida, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Ailene Peppers, LaVelle Avery, Thelma Hingson, Barbara Owens, brothers, Noah Peppers, Noel Peppers, Howard Peppers, Jr., Duke Peppers, Gilbert Peppers, Claude Peppers, and Steve Peppers.
Funeral services for Betty Peppers Sanders will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Carson McLane Funeral Home Chapel. Jane Shelton, CRE, will officiate. Attendees may wear something pink in honor of Betty's favorite color. Interment will be at 4:30 p.m. at Live Oak City Cemetery in Live Oak, Florida. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church PO Box 1094 Valdosta, GA 31603.
