Burton James Madison
Burton James "B. J." Madison was born March 5, 1936, in Valdosta, Georgia, to the late James and Lydia McCormick Madison. He attended the local schools in Valdosta and graduated from Dasher High school. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged. After discharge from the Air Force, B. J. returned home to Valdosta and honed his craft as a master bricklayer. He relocated to Atlanta, Georgia and lived there for many years while continuing to teach his skills as a master bricklayer to all who showed interest.

B. J. was known for his legendary sense of humor and quick wit. But to focus solely on his entertaining quips meant that one would miss the pearls of wisdom, philosophical gems, and truths of life that were embedded. Ever during his illness and stay at Holly Hill Nursing Home, B.J. continued to maintain his humor amid teachings about life. Above all, B.J. loved his family dearly.

On Monday, October 28, 2019, God saw that B. J. was getting tired and called him home. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lydia Madison; his sister Betty Rose Madison Jenkins and his brother James Madison, Jr.

B. J. leaves to cherish his memories, daughter Jacquelyn Madison; sisters Lillie Brown of
Detroit, MI and Arletta McGee of Houston, TX. He also leaves beautiful memories to a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 11:00 A. M. at River Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Dr. Joe Troope pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in the River Hill Cemetery. Scott And Roberts Mortuary.
