Bro. Calvin Lee Stevenson, Sr. was born July 18, 1942 in Valdosta, GA to the late Lucille Stevenson and the late Rufus McGowan.
Calvin was a proud graduate of Pinevale High School. At an early age, Calvin received Christ. He joined the Morning Star Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. C.B. Johnson. During the duration of his membership, Calvin served as the groundskeeper and handyman. Calvin was married to Carol Ann Moore Stevenson for fifty-six years.
Calvin worked as an orderly at Pineview General Hospital for several years. Later, he worked at Goldkist Soybean Plant for twenty years. Finally, Calvin retired from the City of Valdosta as a Machine Operator for ten years. Calvin was currently working at Stevens Funeral Home as an attendant and has served families for over fifty years.
Calvin was a loving and supportive husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who was dedicated to his family. Calvin was a kind man with a great sense of humor. He was caring and was always willing to help others. He was a man with strong determination and work ethics. He was a very hard worker that will be truly missed by his loving family.
On Saturday, May 8, 2021 at South Georgia Medical Center Emergency Room, Calvin was called to eternal rest.
Calvin is preceded in death by his parents, Lucille Stevenson and Rufus McGowan.
Calvin leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife, Carol Ann Stevenson; two children, Calvin Stevenson, Jr. (Trina) and Carolyn (Pastor Bernard) Rose; eight grandchildren, Eric, Erica (Herman) Mains, Calvin III, Sheneisha, Kiera, Adrianna, Daquanda and Nicholas; ten great grandchildren; one sister, Francis (Alvin) McEady; five sister-in-laws, Fairie Tooley, Rozetta Foster, Diane (Freddie) Butler, Betty Ann Moore and Pamela Moore; four brother-in-laws, Frank (Shirley) Moore, Gary (Phyllis) Moore, Jeffrey Moore and Robert (Charlene) Moore; the Management and Staff of Stevens Funeral Home; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Morning Star Baptist Church. Dr. William C. Morgan, officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
