Carolyn E. Lazarus Obituary

Carolyn E. Lazarus (98) was born on November 29, 1926 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was the daughter of the late James Bandman Garfield Eichberg and Edith Violet Weil. Her father's children's book "Follow My Leader" was lovingly dedicated to Carolyn.

She was predeceased by her husband of 34 years, Jack B. Lazarus and her Aunt Ruby Eichberg, who reared Carolyn after her mother's death. Carolyn was a social worker and then homemaker. She was a member of Temple Israel, where she taught children's Sunday School before moving to Laurens, South Carolina to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. She loved music, reading, art, and gardening. Left to cherish her memories are her children Ann Lazarus Anderson (Brad) and Amy Elizabeth "Liz" Lazarus, and Ann's children Ryan Lazarus Anderson and Scott Turner Anderson (Delaney). She is also survived by Reverend Vernon and Annette Anderson who assisted her in spoiling their grandchildren.

The family expresses gratitude to Martha Franks Retirement Center for their loving care of Carolyn affectionately called "Lazzie", and to Lutheran Hospice for their help and care in Carolyn's final days.

A graveside service for Carolyn was held at 1pm on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at Sunset Hill Cemetery in the Hebrew Section.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Temple Israel Attention: Laura Perlman at 511 Baytree Road Valdosta, Georgia 31602, or Martha Franks Retirement Community at 1 Martha Franks Drive Laurens, South Carolina 29360.
