Tallahassee, Florida - Chester (Chet) Madison Cameron, Jr, was born in Valdosta, Georgia September 18, 1941, and died in Tallahassee Florida July 31, 2026. He was the son of Chester M. Cameron, Sr. and Lorene Rentz Cameron.

Chet was a military veteran serving in US Army Reserve from 1968-1972.

Chet attended Norman College from 1960 - 1962 and then pursued a career with the F. W. Woolworth Company in Atlanta, Georgia in the Advanced Training Program. He worked with the Woolworth Company from 1962 to 1977 where he was responsible for opening 9 new stores in College Park, Georgia; Montgomery, Alabama; Pascagoula, Mississippi; Meridian, Mississippi; Mobile, Alabama; Chamblee, Georgia; Athens, Georgia; Talladega, Alabama; and Statesville, North Carolina.

After resigning from the Woolworth Corporation, he moved to Tallahassee where he opened a Convenience Store, the Catfish Pad and a Mobile Home Park.

Chet was a member of the Masonic Order, Valdosta, Georgia; Scottish Rite Bodies of Florida, Tallahassee, Florida; Shrine Club, Morocco Temple Shrine, Jacksonville, Florida; Moose Club, Elks Club, America Legion, Exchange Club, Athens, Georgia. He was a member of Seminole Baptist Church and served in various churches on Pulpit Committees, Finance Committees, Director of Youth; member of Choir, and Young Men's Sunday School Teacher.

He is survived by his wife Nancy Brett, sister Mary Ann Cameron Ivey of Hahira, Georgia, three grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both his parents and his daughter Cheryl Cay Cameron McCall.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Bevis Funeral Home, 200 John Knox Rd. Tallahassee, FL 32303, the service will follow at 11:00 AM. The interment will be at MeadowWood Memorial Park, 700 Timberlane Rd. Tallahassee, FL 32312.
