Edgar A. Johnson, Sr., the seventh child born to the late Brawns (Sam) Johnson, Sr. and the late Lissie Mae Vickers Johnson on March 12, 1948 in Atkinson County, Georgia.

A Time to Serve God - Revelations 14:7

At an early age, Edgar A., Sr. confessed Christ as his Lord and Savior and joined the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

A Time of Training

Edgar A., Sr. attended the public schools in Coffee County, Douglas, Georgia, graduating with honors in 1966. He received a College Education B.S. Degree in Biology from Fort Valley State University (Fort Valley College), Fort Valley, Georgia and a Master's Degree in Biology from Tuskegee Institute, Tuskegee, Alabama.

A Time to Cherish - I Corinthians 7:3

Edgar A., Sr. met his soulmate, Barbara Knight Johnson during their school days. As the years progressed, they were united in holy matrimony, and to this union one son was born, Edgar A. Johnson, Jr.

A Time to Work

Edgar A., Sr. spent the majority of his working years (30 years plus) teaching Biology and serving as Head Track and Field Coach and also Football Coach at Shaw High School.

Besides his parents, Edgar A., Sr. was preceded in death by two sisters: Bertha Mae Berry and Ruth Bea: four brothers: Willie L., Bishop Alphonso, Moses, and Rual.

Farewell to Our Beloved One

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 25, 2026 at Young's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 710 Shirley Avenue, Douglas, Ga. Bishop Craig Johnson, Eulogist, Rev. Dr. Brooker T. Rose, Pastor.

Interment will be held in Crossroad Cemetery Pearson, Ga.
