Mrs. Gloria Jean Tucker Shivers was born December 20, 1949 in Valdosta, Georgia to the late Ansel and Luneal Greggs Tucker.
Gloria attended and graduated from Westside High School where she was a member of the marching band. She later received her nursing degree from Valdosta Technical College. After graduating from college, Gloria worked at South Georgia Medical Center and later worked at Crestwood Nursing Home where she retired after thirty-five years of health care service.
Gloria was a devoted wife of forty-five years to the late Mr. Harry Otis Shivers, Sr. She was a virtuous woman who served God with all of her heart. Until her health declined, she was a dedicated and loyal member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Brantley McCollough.
On Friday, January 8, 2021 at her residence, God sealed her eyes and whispered take thy rest thou good and faithful servant.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Harry Otis Shivers, Sr; her parents, Ansel and Luneal Tucker.
Gloria leaves precious memories to her three children, Alfrie Johnson (Tonya), Naressia Shivers Billington (Lawrence) and Harry Shivers Jr. (TaRhonda); four stepdaughters, Sharlene Davis (Ervin), Alicia Marks Evans (Samuel), Aldrena Davis Kitchens and Wanda Thomas; twenty-three grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Alice Bolton (Calvin) and Angela Register (Frank, deceased); two brothers, Anderson Tucker (Geraldine) and Larry Tucker; six sisters-in-law, Caroline Jones (Bernard; deceased), Mozetta Shivers (Thomas, deceased), Mary Shivers, Debra Holly, Georgia Ann Porter and Victoria Hill; two brothers-in-law, Charlie James Copeland (Sonya) and Roy Copeland (Patricia); special friends, Mary Lou Copeland, Julianna Bamfo, Latrell and Vashell Williams, Mary Bailey and Christine Williams; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and blessed friends.
A special thanks to Hospice of South Georgia and the nurses, Mrs. Shanna Kay and Mrs. Brandy; Mrs. Wendy Dorminey of Chancy Drugs, Lake Park, GA.
Graveside service will be held Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Pastor Brantley McCollough, officiating.
