Tifton, Georgia - Tifton - Mr. James Michael Kilby, Sr., 70 of Tifton, died Sunday, March 13, 2022, at Tift Regional Medical Center after an extended illness with his family by his side.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 with Pastor Steve Davis officiating at 3:00 P.M. at Brookfield Baptist Church where he was a member. Burial will follow at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the visitation on Tuesday evening, March 15, 2022 at Albritton Funeral Directors from 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M.

Kyle Grist, Derek Grist, Erik Lunsford, Jeremy Cockrell, Kenny Kilby and Brian Kilby will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Kilby was born in the mountains of Rabun County, Georgia where he graduated high school also. He was the son of the late Levosher Kilby and Greta Frady Kilby. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Jerry Kilby.

Mr. Kilby was a devout husband, father and grandfather. His love and commitment to his family will leave a legacy for many generations to come. He showed his love by being a servant to them in any way possible. He was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed hunting and fishing and he had an affinity for landscaping. He loved working in his yard and he always strived to keep his property in immaculate shape.


Mr. Kilby is survived by his loving wife, Becky Grist Kilby of Tifton, two sons and daughters-in-law; James "Jamey" Michael Kilby, Jr. and his wife, Carly of Tifton and Dr. Dustin Ross Kilby and his wife Lindsey of Valdosta , six grandchildren, Austin Scott Kilby, Brooks Ross Kilby, Bowen Dane Kilby, Micah Banks Kilby, Ella Kathryn Kilby and Paul May, and one great grandchild, Kayson James Kilby, his brothers and their wives, Wayne Kilby, Eddie and Elaine Kilby, Donnie and Donna Kilby and his sister-in-law Merle Kilby, his wife's family including her brother Bobby Grist and his wife Sharon, and her sisters, Reba Cockrell and her husband Randy and Rhonda Lunsford and her husband Keith.
