Jo Carroll Guthrie  Roush
Jo Carroll Guthrie Roush, 88, of Valdosta, passed away on Friday, August 9, 2019 at Langdale Hospice House. She was born in Atkinson, GA on October 20, 1930 to the late Lucius R. Guthrie and Leila White Guthrie. Mrs. Roush graduated from Georgia Women's College in the late 1940's with a degree in social work. She worked for the Department of Child Services for several years then moved to Vocational Rehabilitation Services with the State of Georgia, helping mentally handicapped students find jobs in the community. She retired in the mid 1980's. She was a member of Leadership Lowndes and the Red Hat Society, and a charter member of the Mayor's Council. She loved her family, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed travelling and was a member at Park Avenue United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughter and son in law Denise Roush Megow and Tom Megow, of Delta, AL, her son Eric G. Roush of Valdosta, and her daughter Suzanne Jordan-Roush (Steve), of Decatur, GA, eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Keith E. Roush, and her sister Mary G. Dooley.
Funeral services for Mrs. Roush will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday from 5 - 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, and LARC.
