Clarksville, TN - Alice JoAnn Reeves Procopio died July 2, 2026.

A native and longtime resident of Valdosta, GA, she was born February 18, 1937 to Mary Alice and Mac Benton Reeves. Her family of origin was a humble beginning and the family she created was her pride and joy. The matriarch of our family, she may not have grown up with much, but as one deeply loved and cherished, she left this world with everything and she was everything to those who knew her.

JoAnn graduated from Pine Grove High School where she loved playing basketball, fostering a lifelong love of sports. She loved cheering on the Valdosta Wildcats and attending Austin Peay games, but her true team was the Georgia Dawgs.

Her uncompromising Christian faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was a faithful member of Bemiss United Methodist Church, First United Methodist Church, Valdosta, GA and Madison Street United Methodist Church, Clarksville, TN, where the Willard Blue Sunday School class could count on her to provide the Shipley's donuts each week. Due to her exceptional leadership, JoAnn was in high demand to run the kitchen for both the men's and women's South Georgia Walk to Emmaus and Chrysalis communities. On each of the walks, a special song was shared: "let me be your servant, let me be as Christ to you. Pray that I may have the grace to let you be my servant too". These lyrics echo JoAnn's heart and the way she lived her life.

Her work ethic and integrity were unmatched. Her hospitality to the community was evident in her long tenure in the Lowndes County Tag Office. After serving more than twenty five years, she retired as Chief Deputy Tax Commissioner.

She maintained close lifelong friendships, a testament to her character; she was fiercely loyal and profoundly kind. In 2002, JoAnn married Danny Adams, who instantly became "GranDan" to the rest of her family. They had the joy of sharing life together for 15 years, including adventuring around the world with the "Happy Travelers" group and spending time together in St. Augustine, a place that was special to them both. He was the love of her life and her best friend.

JoAnn answered to several names, "Jodie" to many who loved her, but her favorite titles were "Mom" and "G". She adored her family, daily phone calls from her children, "Friday Coffee Club", and looked forward to having all her babies at the Thanksgiving table. The Procopio family lovingly agreed that "Thanksgiving was wherever G was". Her family finds great comfort knowing she is greeting the angels with a cup of piping hot coffee and an "It's all good!"

JoAnn is survived by a brother, Glenn Hambrick (Gwen) of Yulee, Florida, three children and three "children in-love" Theresa Procopio Scott (Kelly), Regina Procopio Clift (Lamar), and Frank Procopio (Meg), four grandchildren Tyler Scott (Rachel), Jake Scott, Alden Procopio Fowkes (Connor), and Bentley Clift, as well as three great grandchildren Brody Scott, Layne Scott, and Porter Fowkes.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Hiram Max Reeves, and her husband, Danny Adams.

A private family service will be held at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Valdosta, GA.
