Ms. Leila F. Rolle, 81, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, June 6, 2018.
Leila was born on July 6, 1936 to Mr. Lawson Foster and Flora Haile Foster of Valdosta, Georgia. Leila attended public schools and graduated from Dasher High School in 1955 with honors.
Following in her mother's footsteps, Leila attended Morris Brown College and earned a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in 1959 and enjoyed a long teaching career in the Georgia public school system. Leila loved teaching and saved many mementos over the years from her students, including cards and gifts and she enjoyed tracking her former students' successes and milestones in the news throughout the years. Her amazing memory ensured she never forgot each one.
Leila's main hobbies were spending time with her family; nurturing her plants; rooting for the underdog; giving second chances; challenging social injustices and studying her bible. Throughout her life she remained an humble and devout Christian and faithful member of the body of Christ who always enjoyed a lesson in the Word.
Preceding her in death are her parents; her brothers: Charles Foster, Lawson Foster, Jr. and Roy Foster; her sister: Martha Primrose.
Lamenting Leila's passing are her children: John, Gwendolyn and Phyllis; one son-in law: Frank; her grandchildren: April and Darryl; her brother: Henry Foster (Earlean); sister: Ethel Foster Wiggs; Also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Peter Methodist Church, 500 E. Gordon St., Valdosta, GA. Rev. Anthony Payne, pastor, Rev. Tony Foster, officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverview Memorial Gardens.
