Paradise Valley, AZ - Peggy was born in Valdosta, Georgia to James J. DeCesare and Alwilda Rogers DeCesare, she was a graduate of Valdosta High School Class of 1964 and further graduated from Valdosta State University with a Bachelor's Degree in 1968. Upon graduation, Peggy spent her career working for the Georgia Department of Family and Children Services retiring after 30 years as Lanier County Director in 2006. Peggy married Ronald Lee Swigart of Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania in 1972 at Azalea City Baptist Church later known as Crossroads Baptist Church. They had one child Sherry Swigart (Pentecost).
Peggy loved her family and was selfless in her devotion to them. Peggy moved to Fort Myers Florida; Annapolis, Maryland; and Paradise Valley Arizona to be with her daughter Sherry and grandchildren Paisley and Judson, as they moved to support her son-in-law's career.
Peggy had a steadfast love for her savior Jesus setting a great example for how to walk in faith, and Peggy loved her family. Peggy selflessly attended to the needs of her family. She put the needs of others ahead of her own and continued to love her family relentlessly until her passing.
Peggy is survived by daughter Sherry Swigart Pentecost (Jonathon); grandchildren Paisley and Judson Pentecost; brother Michael DeCesare (Belinda); sister Lisa Wiggins (Lane) and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by husband Lee Swigart; parents James and Alwilda DeCesare; and brothers Jim Jr. (Chipper), Roger and Robert (Bob) DeCesare.
A funeral service will be held at 4pm on Sunday, September 7, 2025 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors prior to the service from 230-4pm. Mrs. Swigart will be entombed at the McLane Riverview Mausoleum at a later date. Online condolences may be shared at www.mclanecares.com.
